De Gea displays his quick feet with ruthless nutmeg

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has always been good with his feet, whether playing out from the back or making saves, but the no.1 has amusingly taken it a step further this week.

The 30-year-old is currently away with Spain as part of the ongoing international break and, during a training session in Madrid, his quick mind and fancy footwork led to a video going viral.

In the clip that De Gea shared via his official Instagram account, he exchanges passes with his legendary team-mate Sergio Ramos before side-footing a first-time pass directly through the legs of an onrushing opponent.

Naturally, as all football fans know, a nutmeg deserves recognition and especially in a fast-paced Rondo, so it is no surprise to hear loud cheers from the Spanish players following David’s moment of skill.

Real Madrid captain Ramos and Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba also offer their congratulations, high-fiving a clearly delighted De Gea after the United stopper had pointed to a nearby cameraman who had captured the moment.

David shows no mercy as he completes a brilliant nutmeg in training with Spain.

De Gea has been looking sharp throughout Spain's training sessions, as he works alongside Athletic Club's Unai Simon and Brighton’s Robert Sanchez.

Footage released by @SeFutbol on Twitter (see below) earlier in the international break shows the trio completing a series of high-intensity drills. De Gea makes some brilliant saves, showcasing his sharpness and famed agility.

The caption, for those who don’t speak Spanish, reads: “Agility, reflexes, power ... the training that our goalkeeper coach, José Sambade has created, is pure spectacle. Do not miss the actions of @D_DeGea, Unai Simón and Robert Sanchez!”

De Gea was an unused substitute on Thursday night when Spain defeated Greece.

The United no.1 could be involved on Sunday evening when Luis Enrique’s side face Georgia at 17:00 BST, or again next Wednesday's game against Kosovo at 19:45 BST.
