Revealed: United's Man of the Match v West Brom

Bruno Fernandes's margin of victory in our Man of the Match poll was almost as emphatic as his penalty conversion - the crucial second one - for Manchester United against West Bromwich Albion.

The Portuguese playmaker picked up 64 per cent of the votes cast by users of our Official App, giving him a huge lead over the joint runners-up Fred and Alex Telles, with the latter impressing on his Old Trafford debut.

Bittersweet for matchwinner Bruno

As always, a post-match interview with Bruno Fernandes is a must-read.

The two Brazilians were tied on eight per cent, while David De Gea was just one per cent behind them as he completed the top four. Our Spanish no.1 wasn't anywhere near as busy as his opposite number, and former United colleague Sam Johnstone, but he still had to make a vital stop at 0-0, denying Conor Townsend with a trademark foot save just before the Reds' penalty was awarded.

Next in the rundown of our poll results were the two centre-backs - Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire - on a day when United kept a first clean sheet in four games, and the two players who gave the frustratingly brilliant Johnstone his greatest amount of work in goal for West Brom, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

This is the fourth time in the current campaign that Fernandes has been named Man of the Match, with nine polls so far taking place after the Reds' victories and draws in the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup. No other player has topped the poll more than once.
