United's March fixtures released

Wednesday 25 January 2023 14:00

Manchester United's March schedule has been made a little clearer after the Premier League published the latest dates for television coverage.

Erik ten Hag's first visit to Anfield as United boss has predictably been moved to Sky Sports' Super Sunday slot. Hence, the huge game with arch-rivals Liverpool will now be held on 5 March with a 16:30 GMT kick-off.

The Reds are looking to complete the double over the Merseysiders for the first time since 2015/16, following the entertaining 2-1 win at Old Trafford in August.

Our next fixture is against Southampton at home and that game has not been selected for live TV broadcast in the UK.

Therefore, it is due to take place on Saturday 11 March at 15:00 GMT. Again, United will look to complete the double over our opponents, after a hard-fought 1-0 victory at St Mary's in August, thanks to a Bruno Fernandes strike.

However, if Erik's men progress in the Europa League, it is probable that the fixture will be moved to the Sunday.

There is also some doubt over the staging of the away game at Brighton & Hove Albion in the last batch of fixtures updated by the Premier League.

The clash with the Seagulls is now pencilled in for Sunday 19 March, starting at 14:00 GMT to accommodate live Sky Sports coverage.

Yet the match is subject to whether either or both sides are still in the Emirates FA Cup, at the quarter-final stage. This weekend, United entertain Reading and Brighton host Liverpool in the fourth round of the competition.

An international break takes place after these games.
