Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has continued his top form with Denmark, after the fans' favourite created more chances in a single match that any other UEFA Nations League player this season.

The Danes defeated the reigning World Cup champions France 2-0 on Sunday evening in Copenhagen to finish second in League A Group 1.

Christian wasn’t directly involved in either of Kasper Dolberg or Andreas Skov Olsen’s goals, but the maestro controlled the tempo of the match with ease and set a Nations League record in the process.

Eriksen created a eight chances for his team-mates and that is the highest tally in a single game that any player in the competition has managed in 2022.

Following the remarkable victory, Denmark team-mate Kasper Schmeichel gushed with praise for his compatriot.

In an interview with Tipsbladet, he said: “What can be said about Christian that hasn't already been said? He is a world-class player and team-mate.

“I will always venture the claim that if you take Eriksen out of the team – regardless of the level – you will be able to feel it.

“He is the man who makes everything tick. He sees some things that not many others see. Just a top footballer."

Of course, United fans are no stranger’s to the Dane’s genius. On many an occasion this term already, Eriksen has appeared to cast a spell on the ball, manipulating proceedings any way he sees fit.

Such is the midfielder’s quality and popularity, Eriksen was named our Player of the Month for September, after blossoming in a deeper midfield role alongside Scott McTominay and, in particular, starring in our 3-1 win over Arsenal.

In our last fixture, a 2-0 away win at Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League, the 30-year-old was named Man of the Match after yet another captivating display.

As the Dane prepares to return to Manchester, ahead of the resumption of Premier League action, he will hope to continue his form into Sunday’s highly anticipated Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.
