How the Reds reacted to Fulham success

Manchester United began life to the 2024/25 Premier League season just as they would have wished, by picking up three points against Fulham on Friday night.

Old Trafford played host to debuts for three of our four summer signings, with Noussair Mazraoui impressing from the start in defence, before being joined off the bench by Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee – as the latter capped his bow with the winning goal in our 1-0 victory over the Cottagers.

Zirkzee’s strike at the Stretford End, with just three minutes of the 90 remaining, sparked jubiliant scenes at the Theatre of Dreams, which only continued online after the final whistle and included reactions from some of our Reds on social media.

Zirkzee led the reactions on Instagram, posting the morning after the game, as he wrote: “Perfect start. Thanks Old Trafford for the warm welcome!”

Naturally, our new no.11 was the subject of praise from some of his team-mates, as they delivered their post-match thoughts on social media.

Among them was a fellow substitute on the night, Alejandro Garnacho, with the Argentine providing the deft cross that was converted by Zirkzee for the decisive goal.

“Welcome to Manchester,” wrote Garnacho on his Instagram account, accompanied by an image of the attacking duo embracing in celebration.

Another of our young stars, Kobbie Mainoo, described Zirkzee as a “hit man” after displaying killer instincts in front of goal, in an Instagram post which also read: “No place like home.”

While Joshua Zirkzee stole the show, this week's arrivals were also able to make their United bows.

Fellow debutant De Ligt also posted on Instagram, saying: “Very happy to get my debut and the win. Let’s going keep going!”

You can also read the thoughts of Reds quartet, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Diogo Dalot and Harry Maguire, all of whom posted to X (formerly Twitter) to share their mutual delight at taking maximum points at the first opportunity this term.
