United train ahead of Moldova trip

Manchester United trained at Carrington on Wednesday morning ahead of Thursday’s Europa League Group E match away to Sheriff Tiraspol.

Erik ten Hag’s Reds will be looking to get on the board in Europe this season, during the game at the Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau (17:45 BST kick-off), following last week’s matchday one loss to Real Sociedad.

Ahead of the game, our final one before this month’s international break following the postponement of our Premier League match against Leeds, United conducted one final session in Manchester on Wednesday, with the early part of it watched by the media.
Having returned for his first session back with the team on Monday following a recent injury, Luke Shaw was part of the group that trained.

The full-back’s presence could be a boost for Ten Hag ahead of the trip to Moldova, after our no.23 missed last week’s Europa League opener.

Marcus Rashford was also absent from the matchday squad for the game against the Spanish side but, unlike Shaw, did not train on Wednesday ahead of the Sheriff match.

Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Facundo Pellistri have also been sidelined recently and were unfortunately not spotted during the session either.

Young forwards Charlie McNeill - who made his senior United debut last Thursday - and Shola Shoretire are both eligible to feature in the competition via United’s B list and trained with the group, as did Under-21s defender Marc Jurado.

WHAT’S STILL TO COME ON WEDNESDAY?

Erik is expected to give a further update on how his squad is shaping up for Thursday’s match during his pre-match press conference, alongside a member of his squad, which you will be able to see live from Moldova in the United App, on ManUtd.com and MUTV from around 17:45 BST this afternoon.

Before then, the players and staff will depart from Manchester Airport for the Moldovan capital of Chisinau and we will bring you the travelling group in full, via our official platforms.
