Solskjaer has a huge squad to select from

With long-term absentees Lee Grant, Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford the only senior names missing, 27 players took part in a session which was open to the European football media for the first 15 minutes.

Among those were Scott McTominay and Mason Greenwood, the two Academy graduates who both missed out on last Thursday's 1-1 draw in Belgium.

McTominay, who has been training for a number of weeks now, returned to the first team from a two-month absence during Sunday's 3-0 victory over Watford, while Greenwood scored in the win over the Hornets after recovering from an illness which kept him out of the trip to Brugge.

Another player who was not part of the travelling squad to the continent, Phil Jones, was also part of Wednesday's session, while Axel Tuanzebe and Tim Fosu-Mensah trained as they continue their recoveries from injury.

Three players who played for the Under-19s in Belgium - James Garner, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong - also took part in training.

The trio have all previously featured in the Reds' Europa League campaign this season and might be involved again, as the Reds aim to secure a place in the last 16 of the competition.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to provide a further update on his squad during his pre-match press conference.

That will take place at the Aon Training Complex from exactly 13:30 GMT, when Luke Shaw will also speak to the media.
