Chelsea clash subject to more change

Thursday 16 March 2023 17:00

Manchester United's Premier League game with Chelsea is subject to more change, if the Reds qualify for the next stage of the Europa League.

The home fixture with the Blues was scheduled for 17:30 BST on Saturday 22 April, but would need to move if United have a European quarter-final tie on the preceding Thursday.

The original suggestion from the Premier League was the Old Trafford encounter would then be played at 14:00 BST on Sunday 23 April.

Opinion: United primed for a pivotal period

The final four days before the international break will be key to Erik ten Hag's quest for two more trophies.

However, that is no longer the case as the authorities are awaiting the outcome of the Emirates FA Cup quarter-finals this weekend before finalising the plans for our game with Graham Potter's side and the Tottenham versus Newcastle United match.

These games will not be confirmed until after the FA Cup semi-finalists are known, with the last-four games due to take place at Wembley that weekend, meaning our Chelsea contest will be postponed if we beat their London neighbours Fulham on Sunday.

Sky Sports are due to show the Chelsea match live in the UK.

Hopefully, the picture will become clearer when we head into the international break, if Erik ten Hag's men can knock Real Betis out this evening and progress past the Cottagers in Sunday's FA Cup tie.
