Date confirmed for United v Leeds in Premier League

That date was provisionally announced last week but it was subject to neither side requiring an Emirates FA Cup fourth-round replay, which would have taken precedence.

As both the Reds and our rivals from across the Pennines are now safely into the hat for Monday’s fifth-round draw, the match can go ahead on 8 February.

The fixture was postponed from its original September date in the aftermath of The Queen’s death.

Leeds United booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup by beating League One club Accrington Stanley 3-1, in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off at the Wham Stadium.

Jack Harrison’s goal midway through the first half put Jesse Marsch's side in the ascendancy before quickfire strikes from Junior Firpo and Luis Sinisterra settled the game, although Stanley did claw one back later on through Leslie Adekoya.

And, of course, the Reds recorded the same scoreline when we hosted Championship side Reading at Old Trafford in the evening.

Three goals in 12 minutes, the first two from Casemiro and the second courtesy of Fred’s flick, saw Erik ten Hag’s men win yet another domestic cup tie in M16, despite Amadou Mbengue's 72nd-minute header for the visitors.

We’ll now face another three straight home games, with dates against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup semi-final and Crystal Palace in the Premier League followed by that rearranged Leeds clash.

And the Whites will be back-to-back Premier League opponents for us too, as our visit to Elland Road will be shown live on Sky Sports in the UK four days later, on Sunday 12 February (14:00 GMT kick-off).

We’ll be looking to record another top-flight double over the Yorkshire club, after winning 5-1 at home and 4-2 away in 2021/22.
