Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrives at Old Trafford

Confirmed: United team to face Liverpool

Sunday 20 October 2019 15:30

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United line-up for the clash with rivals Liverpool features David De Gea in goal, who has been passed fit to start.

The Spaniard was a doubt after being injured playing for Spain in midweek but Solskjaer told MUTV in his pre-match interview:

"David was desperate to play, adamant he was going to make it. As I said in the press conference on Friday, it wasn't as bad as feared.

"It looked really bad when he hobbled off but there was no muscle damage which is great for us."

David De Gea starts in goal despite coming off injured for Spain during the week.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka also returns to the starting line-up after a three-game absence, while Victor Lindelof is back in after missing the trip to Newcastle two weeks ago.

The Swede starts alongside Harry Maguire in central defence, with Marcos Rojo seemingly on the left - the Argentine came into the line-up just 20 minutes before kick-off, in place of Axel Tuanzebe, who was injured during the warm-up.

Fred and Scott McTominay retain their places in midfield, behind what appears to be a trio of Daniel James, Andreas Pereira and Ashley Young.

Marcus Rashford, who memorably scored a matchwinning double against the Merseysiders here in March 2018, will lead the line in attack.

Anthony Martial is on the bench and could be in line to feature for the first time since the Crystal Palace match on 24 August.

Ole added: "When you've got quality players fit, like David and Aaron, and Anthony who's now back on the bench - he can come on and hopefully he can make a difference when he does, he's not ready for a full game yet - I think we're looking at brighter times."

The main news for the visitors is the absence of Mohamed Salah, who suffered an injury in Liverpool’s last match, a 2-1 victory over Leicester City on 5 October.

Alisson Becker returns in goal for his first match action since the opening day of the season, while Joel Matip has also been passed fit to start alongside Virgil Van Dijk in the centre of defence.

Anthony Martial could feature for the first time since August.

The full line-ups for today's game, which kicks off at 16:30 BST, are as follows:
