Internationals: United Women trio on target
Three players from Manchester United Women's team - Alessia Russo, Nikita Parris and Adriana Leon - were all on the scoresheet for their respective nations this weekend.
Parris and Russo were among five Reds who reported for England duty as Sarina Wiegman's squad were reunited over a month on from their Euro 2022 triumph.
Russo, who scored four goals for the Lionesses over the summer, was on target once again inside 10 minutes with a clinical finish to help her side see off Austria.

Mary Earps was back between the sticks for England, and her clean sheet helped them book their place at the 2023 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Ella Toone started the game against Austria and Katie Zelem was an unused substitute.
Our Olympic goal medallist, Adriana Leon, was pivotal in Canada's 1-0 win over Australia in Brisbane on Saturday.
One of United's summer signings, Leon scored a thunderous strike from outside of the area and earned Player of the Match plaudits for her efforts.

Spanish duo Ona Batlle and Lucia Garcia kicked off their weekend with a comfortable 3-0 win against Hungary.
Batlle started for Spain and played 90 minutes, while Garcia came off the bench at half-time to play the second 45.
Both Martha Thomas (Scotland) and Jackie Groenen (Netherlands) started the game, in which the Dutch side triumphed 2-1 thanks to a late winner. The Reds pair were both substituted around the hour mark.
United's most recent recruit, Aissatou Tounkara, was in action for France as they beat Estonia 9-0 away. Our centre-back played 90 minutes and helped her side to keep a clean sheet.

Hayley Ladd laced up her boots to represent Wales as they narrowly beat Greece 1-0.
Ladd, who dropped deeper to play centre-back instead of her usual midfield role, helped the Welsh keep a clean sheet.
Carrie Jones, our Academy player on loan at Leicester City, scored the only goal of that game.

Which means our first home game is edging closer — see you there! ❤️#MUWomen
Our players will then return to the club as we look ahead to our opening game of the new Women's Super League campaign, away to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday 10 September.
A week after that, we bring the action to our home ground of Leigh Sports Village on Saturday 17 September when we take on Reading. Tickets for that fixture are now on sale here.
