Manchester United Women’s successful end to 2022 has been recognised in the latest Barclays WSL monthly-award shortlists.

Despite only having two league matches in December, United were still able to display the quality that has seen us enjoy a positive first half of the campaign.

The Reds defeated Aston Villa 5-0 in front of a team-record home crowd at Old Trafford before earning a point away to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Below are details of United inclusion on the shortlists for December 2022’s WSL Manager, Player and Goal of the Month accolades, along with the links you need to vote…

United Women: Best of 2022

From Old Trafford to the Emirates, Manchester to Toulouse, here are the best bits from United Women's memorable 2022...

MANAGER OF THE MONTH

Marc Skinner is one of four bosses in the running for December’s award, following United’s unbeaten month.

After the Reds’ dominant win over Villa and strong performance at City – scoring six times and conceding just once across the two matches – Marc is a candidate for the prize, as is Arsenal’s Jonas Eidevall, Chelsea’s Emma Hayes and Reading’s Kelly Chambers.

Our head coach has already won the accolade once this season, scooping October’s honour.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

There are multiple Reds on the seven-strong shortlist, as Leah Galton and Ona Batlle recognised for their impressive showings.

Both found the net during our rout of Villa at Old Trafford, while Batlle also set up Rachel Williams’s strike in front of the Stretford End, in that win. Galton would also go on to find the net in the derby with City, powering in the opener with a low, left-footed drive.

Young United goalkeeper Emily Ramsey, on a season-long loan at Everton, is also up for the award having kept a clean sheet and racking up 17 saves in her two December matches. Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal), Fran Kirby (Chelsea), Guro Reiten (Chelsea) and Laura Coombs (Manchester City) are also nominated.

GOAL OF THE MONTH

Both Batlle and Galton also have their efforts in the win over Villa in the running for the WSL's Goal of the Month prize.

The latter made it 2-0, after Katie Zelem’s opener, with a fine, outside-of-the-foot finish, latching onto an incisive through ball from Ella Toone. Batlle later got United’s fourth, rattling in her first goal of the season with a powerful effort that hit both the bar and the post before crossing the line.

Five other goals from across the division also feature on the list, including one from United’s Kirsty Hanson, on loan at Aston Villa, against Arsenal.
