Clinton crowned Women's Player of the Month
Manchester United midfielder Grace Clinton has been named as our Women’s Player of the Month for September, presented by Estee Lauder.
Clinton has made a standout impact across our opening two matches of the new campaign, with her performances recognised by supporters in the official fan vote.
Our no.8 received a majority 55 per cent of all selections in the poll on ManUtd.com and the United App, to pip fellow nominees Leah Galton and Lisa Naalsund to the prize.
Two in two for Clinton
Grace Clinton has scored in consecutive games for United Women - watch both finishes here...
Since signing from Everton in the summer of 2022, Grace has enjoyed formative temporary spells at Bristol City and Spurs over recent years, before making her much-anticipated Reds debut in the 3-0 win over West Ham on the opening day.
Clinton marked the occasion with a Player of the Match performance, which included opening her goalscoring account for the club, by heading home our third of the afternoon in front of the Stretford End.
Eight days later, the 21-year-old - who also scored on her senior England bow earlier this year - was on target again in the trip to former club Everton, netting the only goal of the game as United made it two wins from two in the new WSL season.
The Merseyside-born midfielder has had a substantial influence on the early weeks of our campaign and spoke to MUTV’s Liam Bradford recently about what she has brought back from last season’s successful loan spell at Tottenham.
“I think just a little bit more experience,” Clinton began, speaking after United’s opening-weekend win over West Ham.
“Playing in the WSL is not easy, it’s very quick. So, being able to have a full year under my belt of playing that and getting used to that tempo, that experience.
“But I’m still learning a lot and I’m getting coached a lot by the staff here as well.”
Clinton finished ahead of team-mates Leah Galton (34 per cent) and Lisa Naalsund (11 per cent) in our first Women’s Player of the Month poll of 2024/25, after the duo’s own impressive starts to the term.
But our congratulations on this occasion go to Grace, while saying thank you to everyone who voted.
WILL GRACE WIN ANOTHER AWARD?
Clinton has also been nominated for the PFA WSL Fans' Player of the Month prize, with voting open now.
The midfielder faces competition from former Spurs' team-mate Drew Spence, plus Chelsea pair Johanna Kaneryd and Guro Reiten. Arsenal's Frida Maanum and Brighton's Kiko Seike are also up for the award.
