Team news: United Women v London City
Marc Skinner says Manchester United will be without Fridolina Rolfo and Anna Sandberg for our Barclays Women's Super League clash with London City Lionesses on Sunday.
Rolfo missed Thursday's UEFA Champions League win away to Atletico Madrid with a knock, but Skinner hopes the winger will be available for the knockout play-off second leg against the Madrid club in the coming midweek.
Sandberg, meanwhile, was forced off with a calf injury in Spain and will be unavailable for our return to WSL action as a result.
Press conference: United Women v London City
Press conference | Marc Skinner discusses United Women's injuries, clinical football and next opponents, London City...
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Saturday morning, Marc told journalists: “Anna will miss the game this weekend. Frido will be out of the game. Tooney [Ella Toone] still [is out] and Leah [Galton], everyone else should be fit and available.
“She’s [Anna] doing okay, we’re going to assess it over the next couple of days and we’ll update you going probably into the Atleti game next week. But she’ll miss this weekend.
“Frido we’re hoping to be available for the Atleti game next week.”
Leah Galton is dealing with a back issue, while Ella Toone is currently sidelined with a hip problem.
Those injuries have kept both players out of action so far in 2026, and Skinner went on to say that no date remains set for Galton's return, although Toone is looking at a comeback towards March's conclusion.
That timeframe would see our no.7 miss the Subway Women's League Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday 15 March, but potentially be back for the WSL derby battle with Manchester City, two weekends later at Old Trafford.
“Leah, there’s still no update on time and Tooney is on track, so hopefully around the end of March to be back and around with the group, and it accelerates when she is on the field then,” Skinner said.
“If we don’t have any further knockbacks, which we haven’t done, it’s been pretty good the healing process, we then should hopefully have her back towards the end of March.
“Potentially, yes [she’s a doubt for the League Cup final],” he added, when asked about Toone's availability final. “It probably comes a bit too soon that one, I would imagine aiming roughly around the City game, to be in and around, to see where we’re at. Hopefully, we can welcome her back then.”
LONDON CITY'S TEAM NEWS
The visitors will not have winger Delphine Cascarino available, as the twin sister of former United loanee Estelle was ruled out for between five and six weeks earlier this month, with an injury.
Ex-Reds striker Nikita Parris is the Lionesses' top scorer across all competitions this season and could feature, but there will be no reunion with our old captain Katie Zelem, who joined West Ham on loan in January.
Arsenal youth graduate and forward Freya Godfrey is one to watch, having scored in two of London City's last three league outings.
