Youngsters set for international action

A number of Manchester United youngsters are away on international duty with their respective countries.

At Under-21 level, in addition to England's Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong has been called up by the Netherlands, who have a European qualifier away to Gibraltar on Thursday.

Ethan Galbraith, who already has a senior cap to his name for Northern Ireland, was selected for the home match against Hungary on Thursday, a friendly, and the qualifying tie in Romania on Tuesday.

Matej Kovar is in the Czech Republic Under-21 plans ahead of their fixtures with San Marino (Thursday) and Croatia (Monday). The keeper signed a new contract with the club recently.

In regards to Under-20s, Angel Gomes is in the England squad for the Three Lions' matches against Portugal on Thursday and Iceland on Tuesday. The latter international takes place at Wycombe Wanderers' Adams Park with a 19:00 GMT kick-off. The midfielder performed superbly for his country during October's break.

Another of the young England teams, the Under-19s have named Ethan Laird and James Garner in their plans for the triple-header with Luxembourg (Wednesday), North Macedonia (Saturday) and Bosnia & Herzegovina (Tuesday). All three fixtures will be played in North Macedonia. Garner, who recently made his first senior Old Trafford start in the Europa League victory over Partizan Belgrade, usually captains the team.

Full-back Iestyn Hughes makes a maiden appearance in the Wales Under-19s squad. Coach Robert Edwards's side are facing Russia, Poland and Kosovo in a four-team tournament. Poland have included Lukasz Bejger in their party.

In terms of Under-18s, Ondrej Mastny is with Czech Republic and Harvey Neville is at a Republic of Ireland training camp.

Ethan Laird was part of the first-team group that travelled to Partizan Belgrade recently.

More of Neil Ryan's Academy squad have been called up to represent their countries.

Will Fish (England) and Dillon Hoogewerf (Netherlands) will both be in Under-17 action.

Some Reds have had to withdraw from international duty, while others have been selected for matches later in the month, such as England Under-16s duo Shola Shoretire and Omari Forson, plus Sweden Under-17 keeper Johan Guadagno.
