Thursday 21 November 2024 12:02

Fans can watch Manchester United’s high-flying Under-18s live on Saturday morning (11:00 GMT) as we host Leeds United in the U18 Premier League Cup.

Adam Lawrence’s young Reds have a 100 per cent record in the league thus far, winning all nine of our opening games of the campaign and scoring a remarkable 43 goals in the process.

The boys have conceded only four times in those nine outings.

The goals have been well shared out across the squad, with a total of 22 players involved and 12 different scorers.

Gibraltar international winger James Scanlon leads the chart with nine goals in eight games, followed by Gabriele Biancheri (8 in 6), Bendito Mantato (6 in 8), Amir Ibragimov (5 in 9), Jim Thwaites (4 in 9) and Chido Obi-Martin (4 in 4).

Tyler Fletcher, Godwill Kukonki, Zach Baumann, Dante Plunkett and Reece Munro all have one goal each to their name.

Eight of United’s 43 league goals so far came in an away victory at Leeds just three weeks ago.

The sides meet again at Carrington on Saturday in the competition which United won last season, reaching the final after a strong group stage, knockout victories over Crystal Palace and Arsenal and a 2-1 derby triumph in the final against Manchester City.

United must beat Leeds at home on Saturday to progress, and need to win by a margin of three goals to leapfrog the West Yorkshire side into top spot in Group B. Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City face off in the other Group B fixture, and United also need to better Tottenham's result.

UNDER-21s DEFEAT ALTRINCHAM

Our U21s maintained a 100 per cent record in the inaugural National League Cup as an Ethan Ennis hat-trick and a first goal at this level for Amir Ibragimov secured victory at Altrincham.

The young Reds played with excellent intensity and were deserved winners in front of a 3,663-strong crowd at the J. Davidson Stadium in the new competition, which pits Category One Academies against senior National League sides.

United have now scored seven goals in our opening two games, after a 3-2 triumph at Forest Green Rovers six weeks ago. You can watch highlights of the latest game below.
