United youth fight back in front of 20,000 fans

Manchester United opened the 2018 Dallas Cup with a spirited 2-2 draw with Tigres, thanks to a fine comeback in the USA.

The Mexican side built a commanding leader in front of a record 20,644 crowd at the Cotton Bowl, after Aldo Mota ghosted in to score from a corner in the first half, before Brandon Williams converted into his own goal when trying to clear a shot.

However, Mason Greenwood gave the Reds hope in the 77th minute with a slick finish, following good work by eventual Man-of-the-Match Tahith Chong and Joshua Bohui. With time beginning to run out, James Garner belted home from the edge of the box with his left foot for the equaliser.

United's next assignment is on Monday with kick-off at 14:00 local time (20:00 BST) against Toronto FC.

WHICH PLAYERS ARE IN DALLAS?

Kieran McKenna is in charge of what is largely an Under-18s party, with Reserves duo Jake Kenyon and Joshua Bohui the only older additions to bolster the 22-man group. Spanish schemer Arnau Puigmal and Republic of Ireland prospect Lee O'Connor are unavailable due to international commitments, while Angel Gomes, Tom Sang and Aliou Traore have been ruled out through injury.

Greenwood, the top scorer for the Academy team this season, is the youngest player selected while Largie Ramazani, who signed professional terms on Wednesday, has also made the trip.

United's Dallas Cup squad: Alex Fojticek, Matej Kovar, James Thompson; Di'Shon Bernard, Max Dunne, Luca Ercolani, Jake Kenyon, Ethan Laird, George Tanner, Brandon Williams; Aidan Barlow, Tahith Chong, Ethan Galbraith, James Garner, Dylan Levitt, Dion McGhee, Largie Ramazani; Millen Baars, Joshua Bohui, Nishan Burkart, Mason Greenwood, D'Mani Mellor.
