Rashford up for Premier League prize

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has been nominated for September's Premier League Player-of-the-Month award.

The forward supplied an assist for Jadon Sancho in the 1-0 win over Leicester City on the first day of the month and followed it up with a stellar showing against Arsenal, in a memorable 3-1 triumph at Old Trafford.

After setting up the opener for debutant Antony, the homegrown talent struck twice in the second half, following Bukayo Saka's leveller.

Unfortunately, Rashford then picked up an injury and did not feature in our two other games during a period interrupted by a couple of postponements. He sat out the Europa League ties with Real Sociedad and Sheriff Tiraspol and this obviously hampered his chances of being in contention for our own Player-of-the-Month prize.

Hopefully, he will be back in time for the Manchester derby, a fixture he has a great record in, following the current international break.

Our no.10 is one of six names in contention for the Premier League award.

Also on the shortlist are Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing, Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, Tottenham's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Alex Iwobi of Everton and Aston Villa youngster Jacob Ramsey.

The poll will close at 12:00 BST on Monday and the winner will be announced on Friday 30 September.
