What was Rashford's best moment of September?

Marcus Rashford is celebrating his Premier League Player of the Month award win for September.

The 24-year-old has claimed the prize for the second time in his career - having previously achieved it in January 2019 - after producing two goals and two assists during just 167 minutes of league football this month.

However, it may surprise you that when we asked Marcus to select his own September highlight, it did not involve him finding the net.

Marcus Rashford speaks to club media about the exciting news that he’s the PL Player of the Month for September…

“My favourite moment from September was probably an assist, actually!” he said.

“[It was for] Antony scoring his first goal on his debut. I think that was a massive moment. It gave us strength and courage. Seeing him come into the team and score a goal straightaway is massively important.

“I think it also helps with him settling into a new club, with new surroundings. Scoring goals is the best way to help that so I was very happy he scored that goal and we went on to win the game [against Arsenal] too.”

As a forward, scoring goals will always be the bread and butter of Marcus’s game, but is he also looking to add more assists and combine with the likes of Antony and his fellow attackers?

“Yeah, I think just being able to affect the game in terms of scoring or assisting is important, as is doing all the other stuff in the game,” Marcus added.

“You’re in the positions where you can influence a game in that aspect, more often than other players.

“It’s important for us to stay close together and try to get bodies in the box, get shots off at goal and work the keeper.”
