February awards double for Rashford

Marcus Rashford has been named as the Premier League’s Player of the Month for February.

Our no.10 collects the award for the second consecutive month, after his January triumph, making it three for the season after he was handed the accolade in September.

After notching five goals in just four league fixtures across the month, Marcus was the worthy winner from the six-man shortlist, adding the award to his club Player-of-the-Month win for February.

Rashford has discussed another successful month, and his United award win, with MUTV's Mark Sullivan.

Marcus netted five times across four games against Crystal Palace (H), Leeds (H), Leeds (A) and Leicester (H)…

“It's obviously always good to be amongst the conversations,” he said of his club trophy, as voted by the fans. “To be awarded this Player of Month, I feel like especially in the last three months, you could give it to anyone.

“Any of the people that have been voted deserve to win it, it obviously makes me feel really proud that I have managed to do it three times.

“All the players that have been up for it, even some of the ones that haven't been up for it deserve it. It shows that, as a team, we are improving and, hopefully, we can continue doing that.”

Marcus also picked out his favourite February moment, and it’s safe to say there were many to choose from, from the two-legged win over Barcelona to the Carabao Cup triumph against Newcastle.

“Probably the Nou Camp,” he said when asked for his standout moment from the month.

“Last time I played there away, I felt like there were chances in the game, but I just didn't take any of the chances. We didn't create enough of the chances that I thought were there in the game.

“They ended up beating us 3-0 that night and it was on my mind this time to go back there and make sure we create chances, and we try to convert them.”

Of course, Rashford’s goal proved vital against the Catalans, as we took a 2-2 draw from the Nou Camp and subsequently defeated Barcelona 2-1 on home turf just a week later.

In truth, Marcus could have chosen from numerous impressive moments in February, as he took his tally to 25 for the season. Number 26 arrived with a bullet drive to open the scoring in the 4-1 win over Real Betis in the Europa League on Thursday night.

As we look ahead to the future months, you get the sense that more accolades will be coming our top goalscorer's way.

Congratulations on your awards, Marcus!
