Fernandes fired home five minutes into the first period of extra-time after substitute Juan Mata, who was excellent when he came on, found Anthony Martial in the box and he was felled allowing our Portuguese attacker to seal our last-four spot.

United had enough chances to win the match in the 90 minutes but came up against an inspired goalkeeping display from FC Copenhagen stopper Karl-Johan Johnsson, who made an incredible 13 saves. The Reds were also denied by the woodwork a handful of times and had two goals rightly ruled out by VAR for offside.
