Own a United legend's shirt
Manchester United fans can be in with a chance of owning a shirt worn by one of the members of the Legends squad that faced Celtic at Old Trafford last weekend.
The fixture was played in aid of Manchester United Foundation – the club’s associated charity – raising vital funds for its work with young people in Greater Manchester, and an auction of the match-worn shirts from the game is now taking place to continue the fundraising drive.
Playing for the Legends team for the first time, Wayne Rooney provided an incredible moment in the game, as he scored a wonderful curling free-kick in the first half – bringing delight to more than 33,000 fans inside Old Trafford.
Antonio Valencia, Darren Fletcher, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Carrick were among those to line up alongside Rooney in the starting XI, with Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Denis Irwin all coming off the bench, too.
Fans can bid for each player’s match-worn shirt from the game, as well as match-issued shirts of the management team - Bryan Robson and Andy Cole.
A unique piece of memorabilia from a special occasion for Manchester United Foundation, there are a number of distinguishing features to the shirts worn by the Legends team, including a Foundation logo to the right arm, and embroidery to the centre, which recognises opponents Celtic and the date of the game.
Reds return for Old Trafford fundraiser
ArticleSaturday's Old Trafford match against Celtic has generated almost £1 million for the Manchester United Foundation.
Moreover, each shirt features the individual player’s name and number across the back of the shirt, and is hand-signed by the matching Legend.
Each shirt will be allocated to the highest bidder, with all proceeds raised going back into the community work of the Foundation.
The auction will close at 14:00 BST on Sunday 15 September; click here to place your bid.
