Monday 09 October 2017 09:56

We appreciate it is tough to keep up with events surrounding our great club, Manchester United, which is why Your Monday Briefing is here to provide a round-up of the weekend...

INJURY FOR FELLAINI
The main headline for Reds supporters is perhaps the injury sustained by in-form midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who was taken off with what appeared to be a knee injury after just 29 minutes of Belgium’s 4-3 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo. His national team boss Roberto Martinez said later: “We're worried about him. We fear there's ligament damage.” Romelu Lukaku also missed that game with an injury, although his problem is not thought to be serious.

As you might expect, given his excellent for in recent weeks, news of Fellaini's injury did not go down well with fans on Twitter...

MATIC AND MICKI SCORE
No fewer than 10 first-team players were in FIFA World Cup qualifying action over the weekend and two of them – Nemanja Matic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan – scored for their respective countries. Notably, Victor Lindelof was also involved in Sweden’s impressively one-sided 8-0 win over Luxembourg.

WORLD CUP GOAL FOR GOMES
Academy prospect Angel Gomes is currently away captaining England’s Under-17s team at the World Cup in India. In the Three Lions' opening game of the tournament, he scored the final goal of a 4-0 win over Chile with a stunning free-kick in the 81st minute. Check it out below…
