Twenty years of MUTV

Monday 10 September 2018 20:16

Twenty years ago today - 10 September - a new era of Manchester United media coverage kicked off as MUTV, the club's official television channel, went on air for the very first time.

Broadcasting from a studio in the heart of Old Trafford, the station started in an opportune period, just a few weeks into what would be the most successful season in the Reds' illustrious history so far, 1998/99.

Throughout that unprecedented Treble-winning campaign, MUTV brought regular news and views from inside the club to thousands of fans and its cameras were on the bus when Sir Alex Ferguson and his squad paraded three pieces of silverware through the city centre.

Watch some memorable MUTV moments from the channel's first 20 years.

The Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League trophies have all made repeat appearances in front of the club's cameras since then, with MUTV covering every triumph on the field as well as the major stories off it in the last two decades. Sir Alex's retirement and the arrival of subsequent managers David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho are just four of those key events.

All of these moments and more feature in a special, celebratory video which sweeps through the channel's action-crammed 20 years in just 10 minutes.

Sit back, relax, enjoy watching the video above... and remember, MUTV is now more widely available than ever before, thanks to MUTV.com, the official MUTV app and Connected TV.
