Mazraoui: Carrick knows the club
Noussair Mazraoui has revealed the importance of Michael Carrick's extensive Manchester United pedigree.
The defender arrived back from the Africa Cup of Nations shortly after Carrick's appointment, but has, by now, had plenty of time to get to know his new head coach – and he's been impressed so far.
One notable thing for Nous is how apparent Carrick's history with the club is, having made 464 appearances for the Reds as a player.
"He has a big history at the club," Mazraoui told United Review, our official matchday programme, ahead of the Crystal Palace game. "He knows the club really, really well.
"You see and you feel that in this type of coaching and the words he's saying to us in his meetings.
"You really see that he knows the club, really feels the value of the club, because he has a great history here.
"He won big prizes, so he knows how it is in the good times, in the bad times, and you just see and feel that, and I think we also show that through these last games, of course.
"That's not by luck or anything, that's more quality and his understanding of the club rather than anything else."
On arrival, Carrick was joined by Jonathan Woodgate and former Reds defender Jonny Evans, both with a background in defending.
It's the first time Mazraoui has worked with Woodgate, but he's been impressed so far.
"He's really positive," the full-back revealed. "He's really, really clear.
"The whole staff is like on [a] line. They know what they want and they're telling us what they want. Really clear and really positive, in a way which you really understand."

Evans, however, is a more familiar face to the 28-year-old, with the pair having taking to the pitch together on nine occasions last season when Jonny was here as a player.
"Yeah, that's funny, of course, that change," Mazraoui chuckled.
"Especially when I arrived, I knew him as my team-mate, and I have quite a good relationship with Jonny.
"I spoke a lot with him as a team-mate, but I already saw him [as more senior], like because of his age, the respect was really, really high. So, basically nothing really changed."
