Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Ole tells fans: This club will always come back

Wednesday 13 November 2019 13:30

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took time out from his busy schedule earlier this month, to deliver a rousing speech at an annual dinner for the Manchester United Disabled Supporters Association.

MUDSA - as it is better known - was first established way back in 1989 and is now proud to be the oldest Disabled Football Association in the world, with Sir Alex Ferguson among the patrons.

Solskjaer was always a big supporter of the organisation throughout his iconic playing career at United and now, in his role as manager, the Norwegian continues to offer his time and backing.

In spite of a hectic fixture list, Ole made sure he was available to attend a fundraising dinner at Old Trafford last Friday evening, when he took part in a lengthy Q&A for supporters in attendance.

As you can read below, the boss delivered an inspirational speech about his work and why fans should feel optimistic about his young, hungry squad this season.

Ole took time out last Friday, to deliver this rousing speech at an annual Disabled Supporters Association dinner...

“I am quietly confident,” said Solskjaer. “The thing is, it is not about confidence, or being arrogant, or being cocky, or thinking that my way is the right way. It is about doing what you believe in.

“I believe in what I am doing at the moment. I believe in what I always did as a player, which was to listen to the gaffer and then do my best. Now, what I believe in is young players and giving players a chance. We know we are going through a difficult period at the moment but we will come good.

“Because this club will always come back as long as we do it the right way. Everybody who has been at Manchester United knows it is a family. It is not about ego and it is not about me. Sir Alex always used to say 'there is no I in team' and he is so right. Now we have got a group that wants to give absolutely everything for the shirt. It will take time, but we are getting there.”
Secretary of MUDSA, Chas Banks, was delighted that Solskjaer could attend the event and offered an insight into the supporters’ feelings towards the manager. “It is fantastic,” he told us on the night.

“We've had Sir Alex and David Moyes come down in the past, but since David the other managers didn't come. Ole, straightaway, the first time we asked him to do an interview for Rolling Reds magazine, he said yes. And the first time we asked him to attend this dinner, he said yes.

“It was obviously going to be difficult for him but his PA sent an email saying 'Ole will make himself available for your event'. What a man, what a guy, what a human being! He is just tremendous.

“Everybody loves Ole. And there are a lot of people who feel the same as I do - I would rather lose under him than win under some other managers. But I don't think he is going to lose. He is going to do really well, I am confident that he is going to take this club forward and I love him.”
