Ole delighted by attacking display

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was thrilled with his side's two brilliant goals as Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw by Brentford.

Anthony Elanga and Andreas Pereira both scored stunning volleys for United and Solskjaer was pleased with the overall performance.

ELECTRIC ELANGA

"The first goal had some great passes, some combination play, a big switch from Nemanja {Matic], some good play and a great volley from Anthony who's just improving and getting better and better. The boy is electric, has energy and enthusiasm, he's really enjoying himself.

"He's done himself the world of good. We know he's a good player, we know he's a good lad. He works so hard, he's always smiley, bright, asking what more he needs to do, he's so hungry to improve and get better. He can play wide left, wide right, up front.. so anywhere along the front line. He's going to be an asset."

ANDREAS'S GOAL OF THE SEASON

"We might actually just hand it out [the award]! That hit from Andreas was out of this world. I'm thinking, 'take a touch', but he's skilful, he's got technique and what a hit."

The boss was very satisfied after our high-tempo pre-season test against Premier League new boys Brentford...

BIG STEP FORWARD

"I enjoyed the first half especially. I thought we played some good combination play, we played through the lines. Of course they defended well inside their box but I thought some of the football was magnificent.

"It was a good goal by them as well, that hit by the way, but they didn't have a lot else. I was very pleased with the first half. The second half was a bit more messy as it always will be in pre-season with loads of changes but it was a big step forward I felt."

FANS BACK AT OLD TRAFFORD

"Yes, of course [it's great to have fans back], and when they get pieces of magic like they had today I think they go home happy as well.

"We had thunderstorms and rain but I think it helped the pitch - the pitch was magnificent so [well done to] whoever's been working on the pitch in the summer. It was so good."

DALOT AND VAN DE BEEK

"It might be too soon [for the recently-returned players], maybe one or two sub appearances. Maybe we can start Diogo and Donny [against Preston on Saturday] as I said before the game, so let's see how the other boys who have come back feel on Friday night, Saturday morning."

We doubt Old Trafford will see a better goal this decade than the volley Andreas Pereira has just unleashed...

PRE-SEASON GOING AS PLANNED?

"It's a difficult question to answer. Yes, the boys who have been here are working hard and we can see the benefit they're getting but there are still players away so you don't really know how they are, how much they've worked.

"Every year when there's an [international] championship it's a difficult summer but we'll work with the players when they come back."
