Ole's team news update for Norwich clash

Friday 10 January 2020 09:43

Manchester United have received a major boost as Harry Maguire could be available for the visit of Norwich City to Old Trafford on Saturday.

Speaking to MUTV ahead of his press conference on Friday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed the centre-back could be available for the weekend, despite suffering a hip injury in last Saturday's Emirates FA Cup draw at Wolves, and subsequently missing the Manchester derby in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

Contrary to reports suggesting the England international faced a lengthy spell out, Maguire may even feature against the East Anglian side.

"He's got a chance of tomorrow so we'll give him today training and see if he gets through that one because it wasn't a bad one," declared the boss. "We'll see tomorrow."

Harry Maguire is a major influence at the heart of United's back four.

Jesse Lingard is ill again and sidelined, after coming back on Tuesday, but Eric Bailly and Tim Fosu-Mensah will feature in the Under-23s' Premier League clash with Newcastle United this evening, live on MUTV, after recovering from serious knee injuries.

"Jesse's illness has got worse and so he won't be available," said Ole. "Apart from that, we're getting players back. Eric and Tim are going to play in the Reserves tonight. It's positive for them and they've been waiting for a long time, training for a while now, and it'll be good to see them in a proper kit."

Midfield men Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba are still out for the Reds, with the Scotland international not set to return until after the mid-season break in February.

Top scorer Teemu Pukki definitely sits it out for the Canaries with hamstring and toe problems, with youngster Adam Idah a likely replacement as Josip Drmic is also absent.

Timm Klose and Ben Godfrey are other absentees for Daniel Farke's side, while Jamal Lewis and Grant Hanley should be fit in time.
