One month until United's first pre-season game

Sunday 12 June 2022 07:00

On this date next month, Manchester United will be back in action as the pre-season fixtures begin in style.

Tuesday 12 July is the date when Erik ten Hag will take charge of his first game as our new manager and although it's billed as a friendly, the fact our opponents in Bangkok will be arch rivals Liverpool means it could be a much spicier affair than we might normally see in the summer.

That unmissable game at Rajamangala Stadium will be shown live on MUTV, which is now available on ManUtd.com and the United App. The same will be true for all of the Reds' pre-season fixtures, enabling millions of fans around the world to see how Ten Hag's first few weeks at the helm unfold.

After facing Liverpool in Thailand's capital, we'll move on to Melbourne Cricket Ground for two matches, against local side Melbourne Victory on Friday 15 July and then our fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace on Tuesday 19 July.

The squad will remain in Australia for a further fixture against very familiar opposition, Aston Villa, at Perth's Optus Stadium on Saturday 23 July, before flying home to Europe and preparing for a testing encounter with Atletico Madrid at Oslo's Ullevaal Stadium on Saturday 30 July.

Preparations for the tour and the 2022/23 season will commence at Carrington of course, with the first set of players due to report there on Monday 27 June.

Our cameras will ensure fans can enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes access via ManUtd.com, MUTV and the United App as the squad begin working with Ten Hag and his assistant coaches Steve McClaren and Mitchell van der Gaag.
