Six takes on the Stoke draw

Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw against Stoke City on Saturday, but there were still positives to be taken from the entertaining match in Staffordshire.

United remain top of the league with a total of 10 points from four Premier League games thus far and after the draw against Mark Hughes' side, we gathered a selection of post-match quotes from some of players and both managers...

Jose Mourinho: "Stoke are a difficult opponent to play. The characteristics of the stadium always makes it hard here. Could we win? Of course we could. We made a big mistake with the second goal and we missed a couple of chances but it is a result that I accept.”

Matteo Darmian: "Of course one point was not what we wanted at the beginning of the game but we tried in the end to win. It was a tough game against a good team like Stoke. I think at the moment David [De Gea] is the best goalkeeper in the world. It was a great save [from Jese], but after that we conceded the goal. We have to continue because we have to improve and work if we want to stay at the top of the league.”

Nemanja Matic: "Of course we come here to try to take all three points but we have to be satisfied because on this pitch in this stadium it's always hard. They're a good team physically and strong but the few chances that we had, we should win but this is football and next time we have to be more concentrated in attack and also in defence to not allow them to create chances to score goals. If we want to be champions, we have to win games like this."

View from the opposing dug-out - Mark Hughes: "We will take a point. We were up against arguably the best side in the Premier League. For us to go toe-to-toe with them, match them in big parts and not allow them as much freedom and opportunity as other teams have given them up to this point, I think we deserve great credit.”

Romelu Lukaku on Twitter: "Not the result we wanted but we move on to the next challenge! Delighted to have scored my 150th goal in club football at this club @ManUtd.”

View from Twitter - @itano_mufc: "Highlight of the game was De Gea's save. Stunning reflexes! He will win us crucial points again this year. #Worldclass #bestgkintheworld"
