The Foundation work with over 21,000 young people a year from 5 – 21 years of age.

They aim to use football to engage and inspire young people to build a better life for themselves and unite the communities in which they live.

Dedicated Foundation staff deliver educational and community outreach programmes to help young people make positive choices in their lives.

CHANGING PEOPLE’S LIVES

Joseph Horrocks was offered a placement in Paul Smith’s Manchester shop as part of the scheme. He shared how this role helped build his confidence.

“I went into coaching and I also went into a little bit of retail,” he said. “It got me out doing work, learning hands on. They’ve showed me how to approach a customer, because I did struggle with that, when I first came.”

Mark Brent, who attended Manchester United Foundation youth sessions aged 8, has now been involved with the Foundation for over 10 years. He championed the impact of helping the community.

“I started on Street Reds when I was eight, and, when I was 16, I started volunteering. It gave us a massive community feeling in the area: the life skills that the session taught us, because the coaches are more than just football coaches.”

Joseph Horrocks has grown in confidence during his placement at the Paul Smith shop in Manchester.

Millie Stringer now works in Manchester United hospitality, serving guests and clients at Old Trafford. With the job, she believes that she has learned some key skills from working in this sector.

“I work in the hospitality suites," she said. "A typical day at Manchester United? It’s fun and exciting and there’s lots of different things that you can do. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is how to handle people and customer service.”

TRAVELLING IN COMFORT

In the 14 years since the start of our partnership with Paul Smith, tailoring has undergone much change. Today, there is a need to be comfortable and smart when travelling. To reflect that evolution, this time around, Paul Smith have decided to outfit the players in a suit inspired by their Modern Working Wardrobe edit: A Paul Smith Suit To Travel In.

Designed for comfort and practicality, the light-weight suit allows for free movement and is made from a fabric that’s naturally crease-resistant. Accompanied by comfortable trousers and a knitted tee, the fit combines versatility and style effortlessly.
