What would you ask Peter Schmeichel?

Friday 01 October 2021 18:30

If you could ask former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel one question about his Reds career, what would it be?

The Great Dane pulled on the United shirt just shy of 400 times across a trophy-ladened eight seasons at Old Trafford that included iconic moments and memories aplenty.

And now, you have the opportunity to get your own insight into those years in which Schmeichel represented the Reds.

Whether you want to know more about the Treble-winning campaign in 1999, his incredible save against Rapid Vienna, or even how he found working with United legends such as Sir Alex Ferguson, we'll be interviewing him soon - with questions submitted by fans.
To mark this week's release of his autobiography One, we’re giving United fans around the world a chance to win one of five signed copies of the book.

To enter the competition, simply submit a question for Peter here or via the button above. We'll pick the best ones to include in a forthcoming club-media interview with him, while five lucky entrants chosen at random will receive the prize.

ABOUT THE BOOK

One is available to buy now in hardback, ebook and audio formats.

Schmeichel discusses his time at United in detail, while the contents also include stories from his upbringing, what it was like to become a European Championship winner with Denmark in 1992, a father to Kasper, and more.

Upon the release of the book, Peter said: “A question I’ve been asking myself for years is: why me? How come I could say at eight years of age, ‘I want to play for Denmark, I want to win the FA Cup at Wembley with Manchester United’ and make it happen? Through writing this book I found some of my answers and I hope the story of how one little boy from Copenhagen did it might inspire others who want to dream big.

It’s Peter Schmeichel’s birthday, so we’ve compiled 10 of the finest stops the Great Dane pulled off in a United shirt…

“I have no regrets about my career. How could I? But in my journey from part-time footballer in the Danish four tier to Champions League winning captain, there were ups, downs and many emotions. A few mistakes too. Normally, I’m not one for looking backwards but it was time to relive and be honest about them all.

“I share my family’s remarkable, crazy and at times, unbelievable history. Everyone knows my son, but I don’t think anyone would guess the secret life my dad led. Family, legacy and meaning - the why get more important, the more you mature. This is not just a football book, it is about them all.’’
