Jones working on return to fitness

Phil Jones was spotted by our photographers as Manchester United trained ahead of the Europa League quarter-final second leg with Granada.

The long-serving defender has been unavailable this season due to injury and, although not yet with the main group, it was encouraging to see him working separately with a fitness coach at the Aon Training Complex on Wednesday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did include the centre-back in our Premier League and Europa League squads when they were submitted earlier this year.

The players in contention to play against Granada, with United 2-0 up from the first leg in Spain, were hard at work as the Reds look to clinch a semi-final place against Ajax or Roma.

Will Fish is the latest youngster to be added to the B list in the competition, with Anthony Elanga also retained from the trip to Andalusia.

Daniel James was involved, despite missing the 3-1 victory at Tottenham due to injury, but there was no Marcus Rashford, even if Ole still hopes the England international could feature at Old Trafford.

"Marcus didn’t train this morning so I’ll have to give him as much time as possible, his foot is still a little bit sore, but fingers crossed he is available tomorrow," the boss told us.

“Dan James is back. He trained this morning so he should be available."
