Pundit Predictions: Visiting Villa

Sunday 21 December 2025 09:01

Manchester United travel to face an in-form Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend, in a match that will be tough to call for many.

Despite the Villans' current run, we're just seven points behind the third-placed side and will be hoping to close that gap at Villa Park.

It's a clash that provides plenty of intrigue, not least to those playing our United Predictions game ahead of the 16:30 GMT kick-off.

Stuck with your picks? Don't worry, we've enlisted some expert help in former Reds Wes Brown and Quinton Fortune – here's what they're going for...

WES BROWN

Five-time Premier League winner Wes Brown knows a thing or two about clinching three points in England's top tier.

Our Villa Park visit will be the first match without all three of Africa Cup of Nations trio Bryan Mbeumo, Amad and Noussair Mazraoui, but Wes believes another key dressing-room figure will step up to get the result over the line.

Starting XI: Lammens; Yoro, Heaven, Martinez; Dalot, Fernandes, Mainoo, Shaw; Zirkzee, Mount; Sesko.

Correct score: Aston Villa 2 United 3.

First goalscorer: Bruno Fernandes.

Man of the Match: Bruno Fernandes.

QUINTON FORTUNE

Not sure about what Wes has gone for? We also asked ex-United man Quinton Fortune for his thoughts on the match.

The former South Africa international also backs the Reds to win, but predicts another one of Ruben Amorim's attackers to break the deadlock.

Starting XI: Lammens; Yoro, Shaw, Martinez; Dalot, Ugarte, Mainoo, Dorgu; Mount, Fernandes; Cunha.

Correct score: Aston Villa 1 United 2

First goalscorer: Matheus Cunha.

Man of the Match: Kobbie Mainoo.
