Rangnick gives Pogba injury update

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba suffered a calf muscle injury in the club's away defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday night, interim manager Ralf Rangnick has revealed.

Pogba was forced off after only 10 minutes at Anfield, where United were beaten 4-0 by rivals Liverpool in a chastening evening for the travelling Reds.

Jesse Lingard replaced Pogba, who headed straight down the tunnel holding his right leg. Speaking to MUTV in his post-match press conference, Rangnick gave an explanation of the early substitution.

The Reds suffer defeat on a hugely frustrating night at Anfield.

"He pulled his calf muscle and, as it seems right now, this will not be an injury like the one Fred has which will be gone in one week.

"I fear he will not be available for Arsenal or Chelsea."

Pogba joins a growing list of injured players with Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Fred and Edinson Cavani all not fit to play at Anfield, while Cristiano Ronaldo missed the match due to compassionate leave after the tragic death of his new-born baby boy.

There was better news on the injury front with Scott McTominay, who has missed the last few games with a foot problem, back on the bench against Liverpool meaning he will hopefully also make the squad that travels to Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime.
