Ole issues update on Rashford after Milan draw

Thursday 11 March 2021 20:54

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has outlined when he hopes to have Marcus Rashford available for selection again.

Marcus missed out on our 1-1 draw with AC Milan at Old Trafford on Thursday, after coming off with a muscle injury 20 minutes before the end of the victory in the Manchester derby at the weekend.

Edinson Cavani was also absent for the duel with the Rossoneri, while Anthony Martial was substituted at half-time for Amad, after suffering a hip problem.

The manager reveals the nature of Anthony's problem after the Frenchman was withdrawn at the break.

The Reds also have various problems in midfield, but Solskjaer says he hopes Rashford will be back for the return tie in Milan - and he hasn't ruled him out of featuring against West Ham on Sunday yet either.

“Anthony got a whack on his hip so there’s another forward we need to scan and look at,” Ole said in his post-match press conference.

“I definitely hope Marcus is back for next Thursday in Milan. I’m not sure he’ll make Sunday but, fingers crossed, as we’ll need him.

“Edinson, I don’t think will be ready for Sunday, no.”

At present, Mason Greenwood is United's only fit senior striker for the West Ham game but we hope Ole can give us further - hopefully, positive - news prior to the clash with David Moyes's men.
