Manchester United's defensive pair Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw have ranked in the top three of all the players at Euro 2020, according to UEFA.

The England duo were magnificent in helping their country reach the final, only to miss out on the trophy on penalties, against Italy, following Luke's early strike at Wembley in the 1-1 draw.

Although Azzurri keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was acclaimed the Player of the Tournament, with Spain's Pedri picking up the Young Player award, they were well down this particular list.

The performance rankings rely on data considered for each player specific to their position and is used to judge their form at international level.

Hence, previous international competitions are taken into account but the ratings are weighted according to the importance of the fixture, with the knock-out stages of the tournament given most value.

Italy midfielder Marco Verratti, who plays his club football for Paris Saint-Germain, came out on top with 154,863 points – which put him clear ahead of our Reds in second and third spot.

Shaw was runner-up after his goal in the final, while outstanding centre-back Maguire was one place behind after 10 clearances and nine ball recoveries against Italy.

Former United idol Cristiano Ronaldo came fourth, despite going out in the round of 16 with Portugal, with Patrick Schick, the Czech Republic striker, in fifth.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo and Schick were the joint-top scorers with five apiece, while Shaw's three assists were only bettered by Switzerland midfielder Steven Zuber, who managed four.

In terms of the speed stakes, our very own Daniel James and Marcus Rashford were joint-fifth with a timing of 33.5 km/h. Although he was injured during the finals, Italy's Leonardo Spinazzola clocked the joint-quickest run, along with Hungary full-back Loic Nego (33.8 km/h).
