Keane meets Ferrell in hilarious encounter

Sunday 12 February 2023 18:25

Roy Keane was on punditry duties for Sky Sports when he was interrupted by an unexpected guest on Sunday: Hollywood actor Will Ferrell.

The former Manchester United midfielder, at the Etihad Stadium to see Manchester City beat Aston Villa 3-1, seemed delighted to see Ferrell, and the pair embraced with a warm hug.

“Roy and I had the pleasure of playing at Soccer Aid”, the actor announced before struggling to remember the year the pair met.

“I don’t know – I can’t even remember last week!” Keane hilariously replied.

Keane and Ferrell clearly got along well, even to the point that Micah Richards seemed upset by the revelation of the partnership, exclaiming, “I’m getting jealous now – he’s mine!”

Richards and Keane have become somewhat of a formidable duo on the Sky Sports channel, but their tweet (titled: Will Ferrell and Roy Keane. The duo we NEVER knew we needed!) gained huge online traction, garnering over 600,000 views, showing what the fans really want to see.

Ferrell, famous for lead roles in films such as Elf and Anchorman: the legend of Ron Burgundy, is in the UK and keen to watch some games.

The American saw Wrexham defeat Wealdstone on Saturday, meeting up with pals Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the Welsh club's co-owners.
