Six reasons we all love Manchester United

Wednesday 05 September 2018 14:14

In this international break and beyond, we’re exploring what it means to be a fan of the greatest club in the world.

Our ‘U-N-I-T-E-D’ campaign kicked off with a personal opinion piece and it continues here with six key reasons why United are the team for me, you, and millions of our fellow supporters around the world.
1: Unforgettable moments
says

It's not just about the occasions when we've lifted silverware, like the Nou Camp in 1999. It's also the games we’ve won and the unbelievable goals we’ve scored. Every fan has their own personal favourites.

2: Notable managers
says

We’re lucky to have had some of the best managers, from Sir Matt elevating the club to greatness, to Sir Alex leading us to glory. Now we’re behind Jose Mourinho as he bids to take us back to the top.

3: Iconic players
says

Edwards, Best, Law, Charlton, Robson, Cantona, Keane, Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs, Rooney… just a few of the icons to grace the famous shirt in our history – not so much club greats as legends of the global game.

4: Tragedy to triumph
says

There’s no escaping the Munich tragedy when 23 people died, including eight players and three club officials. We still sing about those 'bouncing Busby Babes’ - and we're proud United won the European Cup just 10 years later.

5: Enduring appeal
says

There’s no bigger club in England, possibly none bigger in the world. Over 75,000 fans fill Old Trafford every home game, with millions more tuning in around the world. Others boast of their dedicated support; we know ours is the best!

6: Dedication to youth
says

For 3,926 consecutive games and counting, there has been a homegrown player in every matchday squad at United. That remarkable run dates back to 1937, and we still get a huge buzz whenever an Academy graduate breaks into the first team!
