Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Team announced for United's tie at LASK

Thursday 12 March 2020 16:40

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made five changes to his Manchester United team as the Reds prepare to take on LASK in the first leg of our last-16 tie in Austria.

Sergio Romero, Eric Bailly, Scott McTominay, Juan Mata and Odion Ighalo all come back into the side for a game which will be played behind closed doors due to coronavirus.

It appears that Brandon Williams will start at right-back, with Luke Shaw on the other flank. Bailly will partner captain Harry Maguire at the heart of the backline.

McTominay, who netted in our last Europa League match against Club Brugge, will anchor the midfield alongside Fred, with Mata, Daniel James and Bruno Fernandes supporting Ighalo in attack.

Speaking about his line-up, Ole told MUTV: "I feel we’re fielding a strong team. The players are ready, the ones who didn’t play on Sunday, of course wanted to be part of that one. They want to show they’re ready to play in this team. There are a couple who had to stay behind with injuries but it’s part and parcel of the game.

"The players are prepped and prepared. We’ve told them what to expect. They’ve seen videos and analysed them – they’re a direct team, physically very strong, loads of running and play in a certain way; 3-4-3 with three forwards and it’s very hard to stop them high up the pitch. We need to impose ourselves on the game and play our game."

Asked about playing the game behind closed doors, the manager added: "It’s different and we’ve just got to make our own atmosphere. We’ll make sure the team is ready, knowing we might have some extra staff spread around the stadium, you know, to shout a few Man United songs!"

The match kicks off at 18:55 GMT and you can follow all the build-up and live game updates in our Match Centre.
