Ole confirms his XI to face Brighton

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named his Man Utd starting XI to face Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

It's the same team that defeated Sheffield United 3-0 at Old Trafford last Wednesday, with the Reds' boss making eight changes to the side that saw off Norwich in the FA Cup at the weekend.

Back into the side come David De Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

The three players who retain their place from the Norwich victory, and who have been ever-presents since Project Restart, are captain Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes.

Speaking to Sky Sports before the game, Ole discussed his starting line-up, saying: “This is the same team that played less than a week ago against Sheffield United, so it’s not going to be unfamiliar. I think we played really well against Sheffield United, so hopefully we can see some of that football again.

Everything has to be right because we’ve been here the last two years and have not got any points. We know it’s going to be hard, we know that we have to focus on one game at a time. But that’s the beauty of having a good squad, we can just rest players and have them ready for when they need to perform.

“I think it goes with football that you get used to each other,“ he added, when asked about his midfield three of Pogba, Fernandes and Matic. ”You get used to the way that people want the ball and the way they run. Paul and Bruno are two creative players and with Nemanja, and the experience behind them, we’ve seen something. But then again, Scott and Fred have never let us down. We’re in a good position.”

Here are how both teams line up...

United: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire (c), Shaw, Fernandes, Matic, Pogba, Greenwood, Martial, Rashford.

Subs: Romero, Bailly, Williams, Andreas, Fred, McTominay, James, Mata, Ighalo.

Brighton: Ryan, Lamptey, Duffy, Dunk, Burn, Montoya, Bissouma, Stephens, Propper, MacAllister, Connolly.

Subs: Button, Bernardo, Schelotto, Mooy, Gross, March, Trossard, Murray, Maupay.
