Team revealed for clash with Aston Villa

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made four changes to his Manchester United side to take on Aston Villa, from the one which beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0.

With the busy festive period meaning this is our sixth game in 15 days, the boss has opted to rotate key areas of the XI for the encounter with the Villans.

The four alterations see Luke Shaw, Fred, Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial come in for Alex Telles, Nemanja Matic, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani, who is serving the first of a three-match suspension and is therefore not among the squad.

In goal, David De Gea will be hoping to keep a clean sheet tonight, as he did when the sides last met in the Premier League at Villa Park in July.

Ahead of him and it’s the same back four that finished against Wolves last time: Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Harry Maguire and Shaw.

It looks like the Reds could start with a midfield diamond, as we have on several occasions this term, with Fred and McTominay coming back in and Paul Pogba retaining his place in the line-up.

Bruno Fernandes, United’s Player of the Month for December, is expected to play behind our strikers. The Portuguese midfielder scored the opener in July’s 3-0 victory over the Villans, from the penalty spot.

Up front, it’s the dynamic duo of Marcus Rashford and Martial. Between them the pair have scored 18 times this season.

The visitors have made one alteration, with Tyrone Mings back from suspension and replacing Kortney Hause.

“Obviously we rotate,” Ole explained “ [We need] energy again. Scott and Fred have been playing really well so it is easy to bring them in, Anthony as well has looked sharp.

“[It was] a rest for him [on Tuesday] as we more or less expected Edinson to be out, so to have Anthony fresh for this one was important.”
