Confirmed: United side to face RB Leipzig

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has announced his Manchester United XI to start Wednesday's Champions League Group H game against RB Leipzig.

The boss has made five changes from the side which drew 0-0 with Chelsea at the weekend, with Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial all starting.

The quintet replace Scott McTominay, Juan Mata, Bruno Fernandes, Daniel James and Marcus Rashford, all of whom were selected from the off against Chelsea.

Asked about his decision to rest several players, Ole told BT Sport ahead of the game: "Bruno and Marcus, they've played the last five - or they've played three for us and they've played the two internationals. Scott's played the last three, plus three internationals, so five games in 14 days [for Marcus and Bruno]. Six games in 17 for Scotty. You've got to look after the players and, medically, that was what we found and deemed right today."

That means it’s David De Gea who is once again between the sticks for the hosts, behind the back four which kept a clean sheet on Saturday, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw all handed a starting berth.

It appears Ole may adopt a four-man midfield for the Leipzig clash, which could see Matic sitting at the base of a diamond. Fred and Pogba are expected to line up in the centre of the park, while van de Beek could be our most attacking presence from midfield.

Asked about the inclusion of Pogba and van de Beek in the XI, Ole said: "They've been waiting in the wings as well, and we've picked a team that we think can cause Leipzig problems tonight."

Donny will look to link up with attackers Martial and Greenwood, who it appears will partner each other up front.

Ole certainly has plenty of options to call upon from the bench, with the likes of Fernandes, Rashford and Edinson Cavani named among his 12-man list of substitutes.
