Donny van de Beek's knee injury, suffered in the recent win over Bournemouth, brought a premature end to the Manchester United midfielder's season.

The Dutchman recently underwent surgery after his early withdrawal against the Cherries, and posted a positive update on social media last week.

It prompted his team-mates, ex-Reds and further members of the footballing community to warmly offer their support, as the 25-year-old begins his road to recovery.

Our midfielder has resolved to come back stronger, after he was ruled out for the season with a knee injury.

Several Reds sent messages to Donny to display their support, with Christian Eriksen, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Scott McTominay, David De Gea, Bruno Fernandes, Tyrell Malacia and Brandon Williams all adding heart emojis on his Instagram post.

Club captain Harry Maguire and right-back Diogo Dalot also posted, with Harry saying: “We’re all with you.” Brazilian midfielder Fred added: “Come back stronger bro! Have a good recovery.”

United on-loan players Amad, Alex Telles and Eric Bailly, as well as Academy youngsters Charlie Savage and Charlie McNeill – who have been involved with the senior squad this term – added their own support for the Dutch midfielder.

Frenkie de Jong, with whom van de Beek played at Ajax under now-United manager Erik ten Hag, commented a heart and a praying emoji.

Fellow Dutchmen Matthijs de Ligt and Daley Blind – the latter being a former Red too, of course – also added hearts.

Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries and Manchester City centre-back Nathan Ake were among several other Netherlands internationals to issue their support.

Best wishes, Donny - we hope to see you back out there as soon as possible!
