The story behind Fred and Telles's celebration

Friday 10 December 2021 15:55

Alex Telles has revealed the background to his celebration with Fred during the recent win over Crystal Palace.

Fred broke the deadlock in our last Premier League outing, curling home Mason Greenwood's pass to earn three precious points and earning our Man-of-the-Match award.

Ahead of Saturday's trip to Norwich City, we spoke to Telles about the dance that marked the goal and the tale behind it, with another player supposed to be in on the act.

"We'd planned that celebration beforehand," Telles told club media. "Bruno was actually supposed to be a part of it as well but he didn't make it. He's a bit uptight for dancing [smiles] but it was supposed to be all three of us!

"I was really happy with Fred's goal, he's one of the people I get on best with here at the club and we'd planned the dance beforehand and, thankfully, it came off, we're intending to do some more dancing, it's a sign that more goals are on their way.

"Of course, it's always good to celebrate in front of our fans at Old Trafford, whatever the goal and whoever scored it. The energy coming from our fans is such an impressive feeling. Doing a dance for everyone to see and enjoy is important to us."

Telles, Fred and Fernandes form a close-knit bond at the club and are enjoying life under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

"Our relationship is really tight," the full-back added. "Both on and off the pitch. We have a great relationship and we're always together with our families. This helps us on the pitch, with communication knowing where the other one will be positioned.

"It's a great friendship to have and really important in football on the pitch as well."
