The week ahead at Manchester United

Monday 13 January 2020 10:00

Manchester United’s busy January continues, with a crunch Emirates FA Cup tie and a league match away to one of our biggest rivals on the horizon over the coming seven days.

United Women also have two fixtures to come and here’s a complete guide to what’s happening this week…

MONDAY

We’ll continue to provide you with all the reaction from Saturday’s game against Norwich City and start the build-up to midweek. Later in the day, our weekly topical debate show Kicking Off returns for the first time in 2020. Watch along on MUTV, or via the live stream in our Official App, from 18:30 GMT.

TUESDAY

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be holding his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s FA Cup third-round replay against Wolverhampton Wanderers. As usual, you can follow the breaking stories in our Official App, from 10:00 GMT onwards. The February 2020 edition of our official monthly magazine, Inside United, is also available in stores from Tuesday. This month's edition includes an exclusive interview with right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and you can pick up a copy at Old Trafford, before the Wolves game.

Also on Tuesday, Abbie McManus turns 27. The Women’s centre-back, and lifelong Reds fan, joined us from rivals City in the summer and has made 13 appearances so far. Happy birthday Abbie!

WEDNESDAY

After the goalless draw at Molineux on 4 January, Nuno Espirito Santo brings his Wolves side to Old Trafford for our first third-round replay in the FA Cup since the 2012/13 season. Back then, Wayne Rooney’s ninth-minute strike settled a tight tie against West Ham, after a 2-2 draw at Upton Park. Kick-off on Wednesday is at 19:45 GMT and Tranmere Rovers or Watford await the victors in the next round, on Sunday 26 January.

Fifteen minutes earlier, United’s Women take on Brighton & Hove Albion in the quarter-final of the Continental Cup. Casey Stoney’s side will be aiming to match the achievement of reaching the last four in 2018/19, when we were knocked out by eventual runners-up Arsenal.

THURSDAY

We’ll be sharing Ole and the players’ reaction to the match at Old Trafford the night before, as well as looking ahead to Sunday’s huge game against Liverpool at Anfield.

FRIDAY

The boss will hold his second press conference of the week at Aon Training Complex and it’s one not to miss out on as he previews the Premier League match against Jurgen Klopp’s table-toppers. We’ll be covering the manager’s media briefing, and his exclusive MUTV interview, on ManUtd.com and in our Official App from 10:00 GMT.

SUNDAY

The week closes out with one of our biggest games of this, and any other, season. Klopp’s Liverpool, who are clear at the top of the Premier League, as they look to end their 30-year title drought, lie in wait for United at Anfield, in a game which kicks off at 16:30 GMT. We are the only team to take points off the Merseysiders in the league this season, in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in October, and we’ll be aiming for a first Premier League win on the red side of Stanley Park since January 2016. Follow our pre-match build-up on MUTV from 15:00 GMT, as well as in-game commentary and live stats via the Official App.

United Women are in action earlier on Sunday, hosting Tottenham Hotspur at Leigh Sports Village (12:00 GMT kick-off). Casey Stoney’s side will be eager to complete a league double over the north Londoners, having run out 3-0 winners in the reverse fixture in Barnet in October.
