David Luiz, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Valencia and Gary Cahill on the pitch at Stamford Bridge

The week ahead for Reds

Sunday 14 October 2018 20:50

It promises to be a busy period with 10 United players on duty for their countries, three of our sides returning to action and two club legends celebrating their birthdays...

MONDAY
The international break continues with a potential head-to-head between two United stars in Seville. When England last faced Spain, at Wembley just five weeks ago, Marcus Rashford scored the opening goal past his club colleague but David De Gea had the last laugh as La Furia Roja came back to win 2-1. The return match in the UEFA Nations League kicks off at 19:45 BST.

Also, we’re wishing United legend Andy Cole a very happy birthday. Our popular former striker turns 47.

Get ready for Rashford v De Gea - the rematch!

TUESDAY
There are five international fixtures of interest to us, featuring as many as seven Reds:

Central African Republic v Ivory Coast (Bailly) 15:00 BST
Brazil (Fred) v Argentina (Romero) 18:45 BST
Belgium (Fellaini, Lukaku) v Netherlands
France (Pogba) v Germany
Sweden (Lindelof) v Slovakia

The three European matches will all kick off at 19:45 BST.

WEDNESDAY
Our day will begin with details of a match in Mexico, where Alexis Sanchez could return for visitors Chile after missing Friday's 3-0 defeat to Peru in the United States. Kick-off in Querétaro is at 02:30 BST.

THURSDAY
This looks like being the first day when Jose Mourinho can really reassemble his full squad at the Aon Training Complex ahead of the Chelsea match. As well as assessing the fitness of our returning international players, the boss will no doubt work on ways to beat Maurizio Sarri's second-placed side.

FRIDAY
The manager's pre-match press conference is likely to be on Friday as usual, but the time will be confirmed closer to the day. His last media briefing began at the unusually early time of 08:00 BST. Whenever it starts, you'll be able to watch it on MUTV, including the full version on demand from 22:30.

In the evening, our so-far unbeaten Under-23s will host Sunderland at Leigh Sports Village. The action will be live on MUTV from 19:00 BST, as Ricky Sbragia coaches against the club he worked for in two spells, including a stint as first-team manager in 2008/09.

Will Jose call another breakfast briefing for the media? We'll be there, whatever time it starts

SATURDAY
Our senior team will open the Premier League weekend by visiting Jose's former club Chelsea, for the lunch-time match live on Sky Sports in the UK. Can the Reds pick up from where we left off in the thrilling last game against Newcastle? We'll find out from 12:30 BST.

12:30 is also the kick-off time at the Academy of Light where our Under-18s will meet Sunderland. Neil Ryan's Reds head there on the back of two consecutive wins over another North-East club, Newcastle United.

SUNDAY
After toasting Andy Cole earlier in the week, we'll be saluting Nemanja Vidic, as the Serbian celebrates his 37th birthday. Srećan rođendan!

Now you know how to say 'happy birthday' to Nemanja in his native Serbian language!
