What's happening at United this week?

It's set to be a hectic week at Manchester United, with Premier League, Women's Super League and FA Youth Cup action currently on the calendar.

A busy seven-day period awaits for the Reds this week as Ralf Rangnick's men have two Premier League matches in the diary, against Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion.

In addition to the first team, United Women have two games this week and our Academy sides also have important matches coming up, with the Under-18s playing under the floodlights at Old Trafford on Monday.

There is a new UTD Podcast coming your way and plenty of notable birthdays and anniversaries this week.

We can confirm that first-team operations at Carrington have been closed down after positive Covid-19 tests.

MONDAY

The week started off with the draw for the Champions League round of 16, where the Reds were pitted with Atletico Madrid, following a redraw. The first leg will be played on 15/16/22/23 February, with the second leg to be played at 8/9/15/16 March.

Soon afterwards, the club have released a statement about positive COVID-19 tests in United's first team. The club will update fans of the situation in due course. 

Our Under-18s are in action in the FA Youth Cup against Scunthorpe United. The match will take place at Old Trafford, with kick-off set for 19:00 GMT. You can watch the match live on MUTV from 18:45 GMT.

The latest episode of the UTD Podcast will be released at 17:00 GMT on Monday, first exclusively in our Official App, before becoming available on other podcast streaming platforms on Tuesday. TUESDAY

The Brentford game has been postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the United squad. 

The new issue of Inside United has been released, featuring Ralf Rangnick on the cover and interviews with the likes of Jesse Lingard, Patrice Evra and Bryan Robson.

We would also like to wish former United striker and Premier League-winner Michael Owen a happy birthday! We will never forget that Manchester derby winner…

WEDNESDAY

United Women take on Everton Women in the Continental Cup as Marc Skinner’s Red travel to Merseyside for a 19:00 GMT kick-off at Walton Hall Park.

Wednesday also marks the 29th birthdays of United duo Jesse Lingard and Alex Telles and the whole club would like to wish both many happy returns.

THURSDAY

We are scheduled to be preparing for this weekend’s clash with Graham Potter’s Brighton & Hove Albion. The upcoming match is due to be the last at the Theatre of Dreams before Christmas.

FRIDAY

As we are edging closer towards the weekend, Rangnick is due to hold a pre-match press conference ahead of our Premier League encounter with Brighton. You can follow the press conference and the latest comments from the manager on ManUtd.com, in our Official App and on MUTV.

United Women star Jackie Groenen turns 27 on Friday and we wish our excellent midfielder the happiest of birthdays.

UEFA confirm the round-of-16 ties and dates after the initial draw was voided.

SATURDAY

We are due to welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Old Trafford  Our clash with the Seagulls starts at 12:30 GMT and will be shown on BT Sport in the UK,  if you cannot make it to the Theatre of Dreams.

On this day in 2008, United qualified for the final of the Club World Cup by beating Japanese side Gamba Osaka 5-3 in the semi-final in Yokohama.

SUNDAY

United Women welcome Aston Villa to Leigh Sports Village for a Women’s Super League clash. The match kicks off at 12:00 GMT.

Sunday also marks 29 years since Eric Cantona scored his first of 82 goals for United. The Frenchman got off the mark at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge.
