What's happening at United this week?

Monday 05 April 2021 12:01

It’s set to be another huge week for Manchester United, with vital Europa League and Premier League games coming up.

The Reds start the seven-day period on a positive note after earning a vital 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Easter Sunday.

This week sees the return of continental football as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men travel to Spain on Wednesday, for the first leg of a Europe League quarter-final against Granada on Thursday evening.

After that there is then an exciting trip to London on Sunday to face Tottenham Hotspur.

Furthermore, our Academy teams are also in action and there are plenty of important anniversaries to remember.

Here’s what’s happening in the world of Manchester United this week…

MONDAY

We’ll start the week by looking back on our hard-fought victory against the Seagulls. Keep your eyes peeled for more post-match content on ManUtd.com and in our Official App.

In addition, like every Monday, a new episode of UTD Podcast will be released. The latest edition features Raimond van der Gouw, and it's available from 17:00 BST on the streaming platform of your preference.

Monday also marks 12 years since a teenage Federico Macheda scored a crucial winner against Aston Villa on his Reds debut.

TUESDAY

The first team will be put through their paces at the Aon Training Complex as we get ready for the comeback of European football. Ole will be hoping that Marcus Rashford can join in with the lads after he came off with a problem against Brighton at the weekend.

WEDNESDAY

Solskjaer will face the media for his pre-match press conference ahead of our first meeting with Granada in the Europa League quarter-final. It is yet to be confirmed when the boss will host his briefing, and he will be joined by a member of the first-team squad.

Wednesday also marks three years since our magnificent 3-2 comeback triumph against Manchester City at the Etihad, and it's 48 years since Denis Law made his 404th and final appearance for the club.

THURSDAY

It’s matchday! The Reds take on Granada in the first of two meetings with the Spanish outfit, for a space in the Europa League semi-final. You can keep up to date with all the action across our usual channels, including MUTV, which starts its pre-match coverage at 18:55 BST, with kick-off at Nuevo Los Carmenes set to 20:00 BST.

FRIDAY

We'll be reacting to that quarter-final tie, but the attention will quickly turn to our meeting with Tottenham on Sunday. There should be a team news update following Ole’s pre-match press conference.

Elsewhere, United's Under-23s are also in action. The Reds take on West Ham United’s Under-23s in a 19:00 BST kick-off at Leigh Sports Village. You can watch the game live on MUTV, with build-up starting at 18:45 BST.
