United against Palace

What is happening this week at United?

Monday 06 February 2023 12:33

A double-header against Leeds United is in store for Manchester United's men's team this week.

Our women’s team will also be in action at the weekend when we travel to Tottenham Hotspur in the Women’s Super League.

Saturday afternoon will see both men’s Academy teams play, with the Under-18s and Under-21s taking on Newcastle (away) and Everton (home) respectively.

We will, of course, begin the week by remembering those we lost in the Munich Air Disaster...

Forever remembered

On 6 February 1958, 23 people - including eight United players - suffered fatal injuries in the Munich Air Disaster.

MONDAY

Monday marks the 65th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster, in which 23 people - including eight United players and three staff - sadly lost their lives.

The annual memorial service, held on Old Trafford's East Stand forecourt, will be broadcast live on MUTV, on ManUtd.com and in the App from 14:40 GMT to mark the occasion.

TUESDAY

We’ll begin looking ahead to the first of our two back-to-back league games against Leeds United, our rivals from across the Pennines.

That will include Erik ten Hag’s press conference which, as usual, you'll be able to view in full across our platforms from midday.

Look out for training footage from Carrington, too, as well as an exclusive interview with the in-form Bruno Fernandes.

WEDNESDAY

United are in Premier League action, facing fierce rivals Leeds United in front of the Old Trafford faithful.

That game kicks off at 20:00 GMT and it's not being televised live in the UK, so why not keep across the action via our channels? Live radio commentary of the clash will be available on both web and app.

Turning to our Women's team and United forward Alessia Russo turns 24 today. Happy birthday, Lessi!

THURSDAY

We'll have all the post-match round-up from the Leeds game, as well as staples like extended highlights, United Daily and Access All Areas.

Thursday will also see us remember the life of former Reds midfielder Liam Miller on the fifth anniversary of his untimely passing. Our thoughts go out to his friends and family.

FRIDAY

Erik ten Hag will be back in front of the media on Friday to answer questions about another league encounter with Leeds United.

We’ll also have more build-up ahead of Sunday’s clash, which takes place at Elland Road. The Reds won 4-2 on our last visit, with Fred and Anthony Elanga settling a helter-skelter game after the home side had pegged us back to 2-2.

SATURDAY

Saturday kickstarts a weekend full of football across the club. Our Under-18s kick-off first at home to Newcastle, with action unfolding from Carrington at 12:30 GMT.

Half an hour later, the Under-21s face Everton at Leigh Sports Village in the Premier League 2.

What was said about Sabitzer's debut?

There was plenty of praise for our new midfield man, after his impressive cameo against Palace.

SUNDAY

The football continues for the Reds, with Marc Skinner’s United Women heading to north London to take on Tottenham Hotspur in a 12:00 GMT WSL kick-off.

And ten Hag’s men will have their second game of the week against Leeds, but this time away at Elland Road for a 14:00 GMT start. Follow the action across our platforms!

On this day in 1945, Matt Busby was named manager of Manchester United, while in 2011 Wayne Rooney scored THAT spectacular goal at home to Manchester City.
